The South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub, in its previous incarnation as the ATP Hub for Health Education England Yorkshire & Humber, were the proud winners of the prestigious HSJ Award for Workforce in 2014.

Created as a model to promote entry of nurses into general practice, the ATP Scheme successfully established a shift in career ambitions.

The scheme provided student nurses with accredited high quality placements attached to practice nursing teams across Yorkshire and the Humber. It also created Mentor training courses and workshops for practice nurses, aiding their growth as primary care nurse educators, improving their job satisfaction and professional development.

The judges said:

“This team has built a sustainable platform and infrastructure that has seen successful planning and provides for future workforce change.”
